Bucs Sign 1st Round Pick Josh Freeman

From ESPN.com

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfcsouth/0-12-218/Freeman-signing-could-speed-up-his-progress.html

He isn't going to start in week 1 and is more of a project than anything else. I wouldn't bother with him much unless you are in a keeper league this year and looking for a big upside QB in the later rounds.

Brady Practices On First Day Of Pats Camp

From NFL.com

http://www.nfl.com/trainingcamp/story?id=09000d5d8119010d&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true

The media is making his session today out to be a lot better than it was. Brady was rusty and was slow with his lower half in completing just one of his first five passes. Belichick called practice after about an hour due to heavy thunderstorms moving into the area.

Brett Favre Decides To Stay Retired

From ESPN.com

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4362093

An absolute shocker. But great news for the Vikings because Sage Rosenfels is a better QB at this point in time anyways and capable of leading them to the playoffs and beyond. Let me also just say that this is yet another reason NOT to hold fantasy drafts this early. For those of you who have already taken Favre, too bad. To those of you who took my advice and drafted Sage Rosenfels anyways, good job!

Michael Vick Conditionally Reinstated

From NFL.com

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8117f603&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true

He is free to sign with a team and to participate in training camp but he will not be allowed to play in at least the first 6 regular season games. He is being punished worse than players who have actually murdered people.

Drew Bennett Changes Mind, Retires From Football

From Profootballtalk.com

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/07/26/the-drew-bennett-era-in-baltimore-ends/

He wouldn't have mattered to fantasy owners anyways. This leaves a spot open for D.J. Hackett, Matt Jones or Amani Toomer to possibly get a look in Baltimore.

Ravens Sign WR Drew Bennett

From Carroll County Times

http://www.carrollcountytimes.com/articles/2009/07/25/news/breaking_news/89ravens.txt

What a waste of a news story. The Ravens seemed to panic about adding a veteran WR when there were plenty of fine players still out there. Bennett is a sure handed guy but lacks any speed or downfiled ability whatsoever.

Vikings Childress doesn't know what Farve will decide

From Associated Press

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8116f183&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true

Come on, do we really think Farve isn't going to end of a Viking. Please, stop the insanity and sign the contract so we can all move on!

From St. Louis Post Dispatch

http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/around-the-horns/around-the-horns/2009/07/rams-trade-for-wr-ronald-curry/

Not sure that Curry fits any better in St. Louis than he did in Oakland but it is a start.

ESPN Issues "Do Not Report" Alert On Roethlisberger

From Profootballtalk.com

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/07/21/source-espn-issues-do-not-report-alert-on-roethlisberger-story/

This network is fast becoming useful only for highlights and scoring updates these days. The personalities have become obnoxious goofs and their management appears to favor personal relationships rather than reporting news.

Ravens Workout Possible Replacements For Mason

From Fantasy Football Search.com

Our sources have indicated that the 4 WR's whom the Ravens will work out on Friday are D.J. Hackett, Drew Bennett, Matt Jones and Amani Toomer. Of those four names only Hackett and Jones would have much fantasy value if signed by Baltimore.

Michael Vick Released From Federal Custody

From ESPN.com

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4340597

There aren't a lot of teams willing to take a chance on Vick at this stage but there should be. The guy has paid the price of his actions and should get a fair shot to reclaim his career. Everything in my blood tells me he will sign with the Raiders at some point this season.

Favre To Decide Future By Friday

From NFL.com

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8116212e&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true

For crying out loud, he is coming back he'll suit up with the Vikings and eventually break their hearts down the stretch.

Brandon Marshall Will Show To Broncos Camp

From NFL.com

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d81154742&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true

But his future with the team still remains up in the air. It is doubtful that the Broncos can get fair value for Marshall right now coming off an injury so a deal is unlikely.

From The San Francisco Chronicle

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/07/14/SPJ218OF8S.DTL&feed=rss.49ers

Derrick Mason Retires

From Jocklife.com

http://www.jocklife.com/news/nfl/baltimore-ravens-wide-receiver-derrick-mason-officially-announces-his-retirement-nfl-27464

Mason was on the downside of his career but was still a steady source or receptions each and every season. This will leave the Ravens without a proven WR on their roster so look for somebody like Mark Clayton or Demetrius Williams to step up.

Greg Jennings Tells Packers To Forget About Favre

From Startribune.com

http://blogs.startribune.com/vikingsblog/?p=3023

Great statement by Greg Jennings. Let Brett Favre run around and ruin his image a bit by wearing other teams uniforms. The current Packers don't give a damn about Brett Favre or what he's done for the franchise. That is the right attitude to have when this game is your life's work.

Cardinal RB's Set For Training Camp Battle

From NFL.com

http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/07/09/hightower-wells-to-battle-for-top-spot-fantasy-value/

Both are quality RB's but Chris Wells is a far superior talent. Wells could be a top 5 fantasy RB this season if given the full time job.

Deadline Nears For Bengals, Shayne Graham

From the Cincinnati Enquirer

http://cincinnati.com/blogs/bengals/2009/07/10/graham-contract-update/

Kickers need to realize they are lucky to have a job in this work climate and not be so damn greedy.

From Profootballtalk.com

Vikings DT's win legal fight versus NFL

From SI.com

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/football/nfl/07/09/williams-suspensions.ap/index.html?eref=si_nfl

The NFL wants to suspend the Williams "brothers" 4 games for violating the anti-doping policy but there is going to be a heck of a lot more legal battles before a final verdict on this case is read.

From NFL.com

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d81123786&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true

It is such a shame that a guy as beloved as Steve McNair was caught up in such a scandal and paid the price with his life.

Reaction to Steve McNair's death

From NFL.com

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d81123e45&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true

Stallworth was high at time of fatal crash

From Miami Herald

http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/breaking-news/story/1121770.html

Stallworth should be in prision for a long time, but instead bought a 30 day sentence. This story keeps getting sadder and sadder...
