| When we create our cheat sheets we consider all the following elements and so should you. Look for under achievers, teams that have strengthened their offensive line, and maybe just a change at full back can change the production of a running back, quarterback and even receivers for that matter. They protect the quarterback giving him time and create the holes for the tail back (running back) to run through. Now keep in mind, training camp injuries and pre-season games will allow some players to win or lose jobs so July and August are big months for doing some homework. Check back with us for up to date cheat sheets starting now straight till the beginning of the season and then beyond if there is enough changes to warrant them. | |||
| When making your defense/special teams cheat sheets carefully look over your league settings because some drafts give points for Interceptions, Sacks, Fumble Recoveries, Punt & Kickoff returns. Some leagues only interception or fumble return touchdowns. It is a very tough position to predict and changes in coaches and schemes can make a huge difference to team’s fantasy value on the defensive side of the ball. If you are in a league that gives you points for all of the above then they are more valuable than a 3rd receiver in scoring, but it is easier to find a good defense in free agency within the first few weeks then depth t the wide out position so don’t always be fooled by the points they score as a opposed to a 3rd receiver cause if you get a good 3rd receiver and a good defense as opposed to a weak receiver and a great defense you could end up scoring less each week then having good at both. Calling a great defense on draft day is very tough and it is for that reason to stick with skill players during the draft for as long as possible. You can judge some defenses by the previous years performance, but it is a different year and a different schedule among other things, like the changes to the line up, changes of their divisional opponents’ offenses and even their own offense for that matter. F a teams offense doesn’t allow the defense enough time to rest then the defense can score more as they are on the field more, but the other side of that is they might be too tired and allow too many points against which is also a scoring setting and can even cost you negative points on really bad games. I say take them in the late middle rounds and for sure in front of the kickers. A great defense in these leagues score bigger than some weaker starting quarterbacks, but like I said skill players first and kickers last. | |||
